Štrbské Pleso Tours & Tickets

Every bookable way to reach the lake and explore around it — compared honestly, including what you do not need a tour for.

First, the honest part: you do not need a tour at Štrbské Pleso. The lake is free, the trails are well marked, and lift tickets are bought on the spot or from the lift operator. GetYourGuide sells no tickets for the lake, the chairlift or the mountain huts.

Where tours earn their place is in getting here and getting around. If you are staying in Zakopane, Kraków, Košice or Bratislava, an organised day trip is by far the simplest way to see the lake — public transport across the Polish border is thin, and from Bratislava it is a four-hour train ride each way. And if you are staying at the lake, a guided wildlife hike or a day out to Spiš Castle, Levoča or the Dunajec gorge makes a fine change from the trails.

Everything below is booked through GetYourGuide, with live availability and free cancellation on most options. Prices are indicative “from” prices in euros; several of the newer products have very few reviews, and we say so on each card.

Booking questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to book anything in advance for Štrbské Pleso itself?

No tour, no. Book your accommodation early for July, August and winter weekends, and reserve the Lomnický štít cable car days ahead if you plan to ride it.

Which is the best day trip to the lake?

From Zakopane, the small-group treetop walk and Štrbské Pleso tour; from Košice, the Spiš Castle, Levoča and Štrbské Pleso day. See our ranking.

Do I need a passport on trips from Poland?

Poland and Slovakia are both in the Schengen area, so there are normally no border checks, but you must carry a valid passport or national ID card.

Are lift and entrance tickets included?

It varies. Some tours include the treetop walk or cave entry, others list them as extras. Read the “includes” section on the booking page.

Can I cancel if the weather is bad?

Most of these tours offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. Mountain weather is changeable, so that flexibility is worth having.
