We rank on four things: how much time you really get at the lake or the sights, the quality of the guiding, value for money, and what travellers say afterwards. Ratings and review counts come straight from GetYourGuide’s live feed.
A caveat that matters here: GetYourGuide’s coverage of the Slovak Tatras is thin, and many products are new. We show a star rating only where a tour has at least five reviews, and we rank well-proven tours above promising newcomers. We earn a commission if you book through these links, at no cost to you.

How to choose
- Staying in Zakopane? Take the small-group lake and treetop trip, or the standard version to save money.
- In Kraków? Decide whether you want Zakopane as well (the bestseller) or the lake itself (the newer small-group trip).
- In Košice? The Spiš Castle, Levoča and lake day is one of the best-value tours in Slovakia.
- Only in Bratislava? It is a very long day. If you can spare a night, take the train to Štrba and stay at the lake instead — see getting here.
- Already at the lake? Spend your money on a guided wildlife hike, and your free days on the trails.
What you do not need to book
The lake loop, Popradské pleso, Skok waterfall, Rysy and Kriváň are all free, well-marked walks. If you want a certified mountain guide — compulsory for Gerlachovský štít and other off-trail peaks — book directly through the local mountain guides’ association rather than a tour platform.
